The anchor lid comes all the way to the rub rail (almost)! If you go back past the anchor locker lid, it is too far back to be any good. I came up with an idea after looking at the bow pulpit bolt at the center. I replaced the bolt with a stainless steel eyebolt that had the same threaded dimensions as the original bolt. This was so that the forestay tensioner thingy and its wingnut would still fit on. as normal. I put a nut on permanently on so that it would pull up tight to the stem fitting, and then made sure there was enough thread left for the tensioner and wing nut. Next, I bent the eye bolt's bitter end (can I use that term with metal things?) away so that the eye was now kind of a spiral.
This also has the advantage of leading the line off the bow about as close to the centerline of the boat as you can get. |
