( This is a "repackaged" version of a very old web site I did about
some projects to my old Santana 2023C sailboat)

Galley: Sink, etc.

I ordered the appropriately sized (as big as would fit) stainless sink from the West catalog and proceeded to remove the old fiberglass one. About 6 hours later (see audio excerpt), I had the old one out with a nice rip in the laminate of the counter top (fortunately at the back edge of the sink). They used 5200 to put it in.

I cut where needed and dropped in the new sink. I also put in a Whale flipper faucet next to it.

Other things in the picture:
  • Two drink holders recessed into the counter top.
  • Drip edge around counter (quarter-round).
  • A couple of bulkhead shelves.
The cooler "drawer" thing broke about 4 hours into the boat's life (longer than I expected after seeing it). I took it all the way out and cut back the opening as far as the counter supports would allow. I left a lip at the bottom floor edge to prevent sliding and now a huge cooler fits in there. We just slide it out by the handle when needed. A small piece of carpet on the floor improved this sliding action.

Now if I could only figure out how to insulate the enclosure......
