( This is a "repackaged" version of a very old web site I did
about
some projects to my old Santana 2023C sailboat)

Galley: Water
I
prefer to use portable water containers for a number of reasons. One
is that they are easier to fill when dockside water is not available,
another is that they are much easier to clean out regularly.
-
- I use 2.5 gallon water
jugs from a local recreation store. I can carry 1 or 2 spare full ones
for long trips and just trade them out as they are used.
-
- I made a hose connection
using garden hose repair kits (the yellow blotch waaay in back of the
picture) so that the jug can be removed easily from the faucet/pump.
There is a hose from the faucet hanging down with a male end and a hose
going into the jug with a female end sticking out.
-
- I built a shelf with a
bungee tie-down for the "jug-in-use" to sit on under the sink.
You can see why I couldn't use 5 gallon jugs (space). This picture is
looking into the cooler storage area. The cooler sits in front of this
shelf.
-
- As you can see, the sink
drain connection had to be modified a little to match the original hose
and thru-hull.
